About Us

Southeast JourneysSoutheast Journeys is a four-month, semester-long academic program specifically designed to help children with Asperger's Syndrome, Nonverbal Learning Disorder, High-Functioning Autism, and other related disorders who may have struggled in more traditional settings. In a nurturing atmosphere under the guidance of expertly trained staff, students work on developing self-confidence and independent living skills through hands-on experience. A dynamic combination of social skills training and regular peer support meetings help cultivate positive social interactions at school, at home, and in the community.

With program offerings in both fall and spring, we blend traditional class time with experiential learning trips throughout the Southeast United States to give students every opportunity to learn and grow. Whether students are investigating marine biology at a research station in the Florida Keys or studying the presidential election process in Washington, D.C., every experience is packed with entertainment, learning, and social skills development practice. Each academic semester has a different theme, allowing students to enjoy a wide variety of learning experiences over the course of the school year.

Southeast Journeys is a Talisman program. For over 25 years Talisman programs have provided life and learning experiences for children with ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, and other learning disorders. Talisman programs offer students opportunities to develop physical and social competence in an atmosphere that encourages and supports self-regulation and self-direction.
